Hey Guys,

I'm desperately looking in various NS2 forums for a thread or any platform where possible PCWs can be found.
I also went trough this forum but I didn't find anything like this so excuse me if I missed anything.

Please, please, please let me know if you know anything :)

Are you from a new team? PCW are usually agreed upon by the team leaders.
So look up a team you want to play and ask them.
There was a steam group for team leaders to organize pcws, but I'm not sure thats still active. Beware that its summer and off-season so activity isn't that high.

Or you can join the ladder that starts monday.

If you have more questions or want me to introduce you to teams on your skill level, write me on steam.

Do you mean PCWs or gathers? For a PCW you'll need a full team of 6 and you need to ask another team leader who also has a full team of 6 to play. A gather is a pickup 6v6 game that you can queue for on the website.

Thanks for the quick answers.

I've got a team with 6 members, so I'm looking for PCWs and not gathers.
Your answers where very helpfull, I just have one question left:

Is there a way for teams to signalize that they are ready for a PCW, so you won't have to ask team for team until you find one to play with?
Maybe a status or a thread.

A system like that would be nice, but there is none that I'm aware of. When I schedule PCWs for my team I usually just ask all of the other team leaders I'm friends with on steam if they can scrim at X time on Y date. You can use the shoutbox on the front page I suppose, I see team leaders using that every now and then.

Okay, so let me suggest something realy realy crazy :)
What if we started a new Sub-Forum, where teams finaly can signalize their readiness and those teams who are looking for a team to play with can find one.

I'm an active member in this forum since yesterday, so i don't want to act up, but if you knew how long I've been looking for a possibility to play NS2 against other teams, you would understand how desperate I am :)

It would be so great if we could introduce this method of organizing PCWs!

I can't see this being useful. There's a shoutbox on the front page for this kind of stuff if needed. You can also send a friend request to any team leader on Steam, or contact them through PMs on the website. There's no plenty of teams remaining on the NSL and it gets quite easy and quick to acquaint with everyone who may fit your criterias in regard to pcws. I know there's a couple of Steam groups for that purpose as well. It's never been requested and as long as there will be no point, it'll remain as it is.

If you have a newly formed team and not played competitively before, you might wanna check the Contests section on the website, look up a couple of Div4/Div3 teams and ask them to play you.

Also, you Team page only lists you as member, so you're gonna need at least five more players to join ;) If they're not listed on your team page, you won't be able to play official games.

Anyway, add me on Steam if you need help :)

Okay.
As I said, I'm new in this forum, so please excuse me if I miss something.

Personally I'm just having a hard time finding a team to play against, especially because I didn't find a way to find out if a team is inactive or wants to be challenged.
Yes you can aks the teams, but writing a PM to every teamleader until you find one that wants to play seems to be a very ineffective method.

Well I will find a solution :)

Thanks very much for your help!!

You might look at contest and the division 4 teams. It can be a nice beginning. Those are the lower level on the NSL although there's a couple that might be strong challengers.

Don't worry it has become customary. When I become a teamleader I was confused a little by this method too but it's okay. People always writing me on steam ordinary phrases like:
"hey, pcw?"
"pcw tonight?"
"pcw?"
"wana pcw today?"
"can you play pcw in 30 mins?"
"pcw 20 cest?"
"you guys can play a pcw tomorrow?" etc

Actually that phrases is like 60% of my correspondence with 20/30 of my steam friends.

Copy/past will save you

So people have already answered in regards to PCWs. I just wanted to mention something else.
For judging by your steam profile (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198009820747) you might want to play some more NS2 before going for competitive.

Try TAWtally Clueless (http://www.ensl.org/teams/841). Also relatively new, very friendly, keen on improving, always looking for PCWs. Leader is Skyfish - you can try adding her on steam

I wouldn't worry about being new to the game. Have fun!

Alright... Seems like there's need for clarification regarding what my aims are.
I am tired of public games and I just want to play with my friends as one team, against another team in order to train our teamplay skills.
Yes I am definitely not the most experienced player but that's fine, because I don't need to be.
I am self-critical enough to say that me and my team, even though it would be great, aren't going to fight in competetive league matches anytime soon.
And again this is perfectly fine, because currently I'm just looking for a way to play with my team and get better.

So finding a team with equal skill was the whole point of this thread.

And with your help I did! :)

I am in contact with TAW, especially Skyfish and more teamleaders on steam and you were right.
These people are awsome and even though it seems to be a quite complicated way of organizing PCWs at first, it works out perfectly.

As a new member of this forum the hard point was just to find the right persons to talk to and this might be something where a own thread could help :)

So I hope this cleared things up for you and again
Thank you so much :)

Hello yes, we have corresponded.

I just wanted to add to this thread instead of making a new one, that I too, think that current PCW arranging system is... primitive.
I have been trying to get a pcw for over 4 weeks and not managed. Every team I talk to has disbanded.
I look for new teams in the team lists on the ENSL, i have not figured out how to find CURRENT div 4 teams? I looked at the last tournament matches and most of them had disbanded now.

I WISH there was a button that you had to press, to let NSL know that your team is active. So everytime you interact with the ENSL page (for example add a member to your team, your team gets marked as "active")
Or you have to manually assign if your team is active or not. (this is maybe a better solution?) if members have not checked the active button in X amount of time, they are marked as inactive again.
I assume all active teams are looking for pcw, if not, why not add a button for that too?
A self assessed skill ranking could also help find matching skill teams.

I may be new, but I am THAT new, it shouldn't be this difficult to be at team leader, no wonder nobody wants to do it... (granted, the primary difficulty is in herding the members)

Everything can be solved with a button!
But then again, you need a button-maker, you know, with time.

The only team I know that are active is Fortis? (ex derBlanke?)

Yeah just play against any team, regardless of the perceived div. For better teams ask for feedback afterwards, then you will get better fast.

Write in the shoutbox that you're looking for a PCW. That's one way to get a match if you don't know the other teams yet.

And welcome. :-)
