This steam pissing me off.
Last two days, during the game I have a disconnects with reason "Steam Connection Lost". I have read 32131 forums. To resolve this problem: I have removed my router , reinstalled whole steam , during the game runs only HL (no skype , no utorrent etc), Firewall disabled. Must admit , wasn't such problem 1 week ago. Specially I have this problem only in ENSL server , In other servers I may play whole day with only single "Connection Lost".
OC: Windows XP
Connection type: Lan cabel
Any Ideas how to fix this ****?

EDIT
Can be problem with nlpack ?

Since this is definitly a connection problem the nl hack pack should not interfere.
You did *remove* the router, so you connect to your provider now via LAN (DHCP or PPPOE/WAN) ?

Have you got the possibility to run Steam+NS on another machine in your network to see if this is a problem with your connection or software based? (does not have to be a good machine, just something that runs with the same rates as your gaming pc).

Steam is some weird shit.

If the problem is nlPack, you might wanna remove anything that relates to steam first before installing it.

But you had it installed before, didn't you?
So why should it cause those problems all of a sudden? Makes no sense tbh.

Ok, you're on via LAN, but this does not describe the method how you connect to your provider.
Is it a modem now which gives you a DHCP address like a cable modem?
Or a DSL modem with PPPoE access?

But then again, you really need a second machine to test if the problem is connection-based or software-based
Or you need a fresh windows install...

Well , yes , you are right , it was installed before , was such problem like connection lost , but mb once per day , not like last night ... each 2 mins

If I'm not wrong it's "Enthernet"

Well probably , I'll try to reinstall , if other tools wont help to resolve this problem

Does it really say Steam connection lost .. cause there are a lot of "kicked" situations that can eb resolved by deleting SteamUI.dll Steam.dll and clientregistry.blop from steam folder !

But i dont think it helps when it actually says Steam connection lost ! .. but i d say it is a faster way then reinstalling completly so might wanna try that 8) !

Greets and good luck !

delete the "ClientRegistry.blob" data in your steam folder, then restart steam.. that will help :)

See usually you dont need to reinstall whole steam mostly it is enough to delete clientregistry.blop Steam.dll and SteamUI.dll .. then you start steam and it will "update" (means dowwnload these again) it fixes most connection problems !

If that does not work i dont think reinstalling steam will change much but you can still give it a try !

If you alrdy reinstalled steam (means completly deleted it) then i dont think deleteing these few files will make any difference since they alrdy got replaced once while reinstalling !

I sayy all this cause i am not sure what you were saying ;D BAD ENGLISH FTW XD !!

yours isn't better, EisTee... :D

Did you completely remove the steam folder after uninstalling? Otherwise I would not be so sure if everything was removed. Uninstallers suck. Try removing the steam folder manually after uninstalling and then do a fresh install to be sure.
