Hello, ive recently started a new team with fellow friends and i would really appreciate if we could somehow come up with an easier way to find scrims, obviously the easiest way is to ask everyone on your friends but at this point im sure ive annoyed quite a few people, so it would be awesome if we could come up with maybe something more convenient or maybe there is one out there and i dont know about it, but mostly i just ask off my friends list or ask through friends ect.. idk if one already exists if it does please inform me of it.

There is a couple of irc channels, #ns2.search #ensl and #ns2 @ qnet. If you don't have an irc client you can use ns2hub.com/scrim/. But from what I've seen there's only a handful of people actively using it so it's not much help. There is a steam group aswell but for some reason people haven't used it in months http://steamcommunity.com/groups/ns2scrimnet

Personally I've just resorted to adding all the team leaders and scheduling games in advance since it seems to be the only way to be able to play without risking sitting around waiting for way too long when you want to play. However it feels kinda overkill to have to schedule a simple pcw days in advance.. And having to add all the leaders and spam your whole friends list every time you spontaneously want to play is not only annoying for the people getting asked all the time when they don't have 6, but also just super inconvenient for everyone.

For someone who is new to this community I must say I'm really surprised how hard and how much of a hassle it actually is to find a pcw/scrim. I am aware that the competitive community isn't that big but I have played other games with even smaller comp communities where it has been alot easier to find a scrim. It might seem trivial to some people but I actually think that the way it is right now is kind of a big deal.. It's not only about convenience, but also that new teams/players might think that the game is dead and get scared away when they aren't able to find scrims.

It might also be the fact that UWE wanted the community to sort that out themselves with a mod or other methods. I'm not sure why they didn't think about this ahead and tried to create a simple SCRIM/PCW system to support their community, when it's obvious they want to become an Esports game. Not abit surprised though :)

NS1 worked because IRC was actually somewhat popular back then. I'm hopeful that it's in the works, but when we'll actually see it, only UWE knows. Most teams go by steam/IRC or ENSL chatbox. Not the most optimal but whatever works right?

Vartija was kind enough to design a solution but for personal reasons I have not had the time to implement it yet.

i kinda posted the same stuff in the feedback forum
Feedback>>Matchplaner/Gathers for Teams
http://www.ensl.org/topics/584

and the responses where like "I dont care"

since the day i posted it i looked on irc who actually search for pcws there:
80% of the times somebody askes for scrims it was div 1
15% of the time somebody askes for scrims it was from the first 3-4 teams of div2
(and latley since teams started scheduling pcws in advanced its even less)

so i actually gave up the hope that this someday might change.

but fuck yeah make an thing like the esl instant challenger something like that an tool/website that can search scrims for now or pĆ¼lan them.

There are several steam groups that include all the clan leaders from all the divisions, I've used that and I recommend it.

I think we should implement an IRC webclient on the new site for matchfinding. That will make it more obvious to all the users of the site where they need to look to find matches. As mega said, it is unfortunately not everyone who is aware of the IRC channels.

No IRC client even needed, I actually do have an AJAX based chat which can work with our database.

You could do it with the website with a bit of coding.

We know this link, Scardy, and advertise it so far to use. But that's not an optimal solution for the long run IMO.

Fair enough, but having something like it embedded in current shoutbox location would be a big improvement. I like what Arga did, but I think it needs to be prominently placed on the front page to get wider usage.
