I think it's probably got something to do with 200fps becoming more widely used since you moved to the colonies. For instance, (iirc) when you were last playing sc was a more common second chamber than dc, which is now the other way around.

If marines are gonna get full tech (mt, 3:3, jp) and aliens haven't already dominated them, then marines deserve to win; unless aliens have all 3 chambers already, then it's kinda even.
You only really need 3:1/jp to be able to hold off indefinately, at which point you will inevitably accumulate enough res to get further upgrades. The point being that getting to this point is a lot easier for marines to do than it is for aliens to get 3 hives.
