Hey guys,

as christmas- and new-year-trouble is over now, I would like to pursue the idea of the Freshman-Tourney.

To get more concrete: This tourney will be aimed for players new to the nsl. So the condition to register for the tourney is, that you have not played an entire nsl-season yet.

In particular I am in search for Patrons/Mentors/Coaches/However you want to call it.

The task would be to teach new players about the enjoyments of competitive 6v6. We want those guys to have fun and not being completly lost, when pited against each other. This increases the chances that they stick to it and we get fresh blood into the nsl. Also all casters will thank you, when they don't have to comment on complete chaos :D

Teaching the basics should be in the focus, stuff like alien-movement, basic strategy and tactics, positioning, etc. I think most of the experienced players here should be able to explain this kind of stuff. It's your opportunity to share this knowledge.

The format of this teaching I would leave to the people, who are going to do it - and it also depends a bit on how many mentors and teams we have in the end. One possibility would be to offer training-times, at which people can join on your server and ts and you teach whoever shows up.

Another possibility would be to have 1 mentor per team. So you can mentor the same guys again and again, seeing their progress. You could even setup some practice matches against other registered teams.

You can also think of a mix of both or something completely different.

(someone wants to collect some material and make a nice document, with links, we can offer for the new guys?)

Here is the schedule: The Freshman-Tourney (don't mix it up with Schwa's "Divisional Tourney" - that is a different thing!) will be on 1st and 8th of February. This is before the next season starts, so that the new teams, can decide to hop right into it afterwards.

The announcements about it will go online hopefully in the next few days. From that day onwards until the tourney kicks off your help and coaching will be much appreciated.

If you are interested in doing some mentoring just post here and find me on steam. Thanks for your interest!

Something you might consider: The tourney is setup for EU-times (in the evenings, so NA can also participate). So, I expect EU/NA players to register. Hence it would be best to have EU/NA mentors as well.

Because we are unsure of the willingness of community members to fulfill roles of being mentors and because of other highlighted issues and obstacles which could stop the tourney from running as smooth as we in-vision,
we propose that initially, anyone wanting to partake in this tourney (new players or mentors) could start coming to TAW hosted training sessions which will occur every Sunday and Wednesday at 20 cet in TS. (all to be confirmed in time)

This insures that we have the facilities in place, staff and most importantly players to make up the numbers and ensure that their NS2 competitive experience is fulfilling from the start... i.e if only 5 guys show up we can mix them in with our 30+ players already scriming in TAW's internal sessions.

The next best thing you can do if you don't want to be a mentor but want to help is by IN GAME ADVERTISING (once this officially starts)

--If you love NS, can play at around 20 cet on sundays, and wanna play it how it was made to be played, Then the freshman tourney is for you!-- or some thing similar in game would be sweet

Ok, I figured out the details with TAW and here is how it gonna work:

If you want to offer your expertise, please contact me or Skyice for the ts-details of TAW.

Make sure to connect to the TAW-ts around 21:00 CET each Wednesday/Sunday until the 28th of January.

We will bring all mentors and participants into a separate channel. At 21:00 CET we fill up the channel with TAW-players (low-skill) to make a 6v6 happen.

You, as coaches can have a look on this and give your feedback to the players. After the first round of 6v6 you are free to offer any kind of more training you or the participants wish. For that purpose you can also ask for cheats being activated and distribute the guys over different ts-channels as you see fit.

This is also the time, there it is probably the easiest to schedule further trainings with the people who want to.

Again, if you want to offer your help and are available at the above times contact either Skyice or me.

See you there! :)

Be warned, this guy will just overly judge your accuracy and call you worthless.
