setting lightgamma to 0 will make ns crash if you ever press Ok (if you have it in userconfig.cfg that is; it gets executed after pressing Ok) in options, just a warning (possibly also texgamma 0?)

Ok even after watching that video and reading the article I'm failing to bhop properly :/

Do I still use spacebar for the actual jump off the ground (and then roll my mousewheel while in the air)? Or am I just meant to use the mousewheel constantly?

doesnt matter for the first jump, personally i think mwheel feels better but whatever. roll the mousewheel when youre about to touch the ground

perhaps i shouldve mentioned; in the qw bhop tutorial he holds down the jump button as qw has queued jumping, it automatically jumps when he hits the ground - but besides that its identical to ns bhop

if you want to you could probably break up the movement in two parts; practice the jump timing by just standing still and jumping, though perhaps its hard to judge if you are timing it correctly. the other part is probably best practiced if you start a server with sv_cheats 1 and sv_gravity at maybe 400 or 200; jump and then steer by just strafing left and turning left or the other way around - just so you get a feel for the air movement

It's a lot like learning to ride a bike. It's difficult at first, but once you finally learn how to do it -- you never forget. Perfecting it also takes months of practice. Many players never manage to perfect it. Some top players in the past never even learned how to bunnyhop at all.

It isn't something you learn in a day, that's for sure.

Hmmm, most I think everyone perfects it eventually apart from like the odd few (generally the spacebar users). Scale comes to mind...

Also don't forget to make it unique to you... get a real feel and do what feels best. You can really create your own style with your bhop.

Scale coulent Bhop? O_o

and gayman id suggest go on some map with gravity 0 (not 200/400) at the beggining so you can
really understand how this works...

press D+right arrow (under pagedown) then A + left arrow.

when you understand whats going on and how that works use your mouse instead of keyboard for moving your view.

also ppl here exagerate. it doesnt take months to learn and perfect. id say about 1-2 days to get it good enough to use and about 1 month to perfect.

The easy thing with using mwheel 2-way is, you never need to 'reset' the position of your index finger.
If you will only use mwheelup, you always need to move your index finger backwards of the mwheel. And don't be afraid you to scroll mroe then once mwheel when you are starting the jump. You only need to time the first scroll.

After you master bhop, your next stage is whop: =)

that wallhop is fucking USELESS. mp is bad.

you should look at phil's or s4's wallhop, not mp's. he's proven repeatedly he's bad at everything (including life, where he gets hit in the face, BOOM IN YOUR FACE).

depends on the day i wallhop good or bad.

but what gibbz said makes more sense necros, 1-2 days to know how to do it good? how much time have you spent pubbing before knowing how to bunnyhop?

even for the proest of the pros, you can't make it in 1-2 days.

1-2 days to make it usable. ie, makes u slightly faster instead of slower.

i pubbed forever before i even attempted bhop, but when i tried, doesnt get long to get a level where you can maintain normal walkspeek + gain the dodgablity of the bhop.

You could try tracing a horizontal figure of eight (like an infinity sign) on the screen whilst spamming mwheeldown near the crossing point.

When you are left of the crossing point hold 'a' and when you are right of the crossing point hold 'd'.

Try to time the orbit so that one side of the loop lasts the same period as your jump and fall to earth.
