No, I don't believe that, UWE? Never! ^^

EDIT: To actually answer the discussion at hand. Instead of looking on concurrent players at one time moment, they might be counting unique players over some "short" time frame. Could be because of how results from matches are transmitted to "hive". On free weekend there is surely big fluctuation of players and if you look at 30m/60m interval i believe it would add to those 12K.
