couldnt you guys do an thing to plan scrims/pcws@ensl webiste with other teams so other teams see when who plays might even help for casters to pickup games and cast em.

or/and something similar like the gather system but just for teams so if you think:

"oh i could play a pcw/scrim with my team vs an other even team (same divison strength)"
lets see what team with kinda equal strength is up for an pcw on an list(or something) (maybe teams need some strength rateing from 0-100 or idk)

would be nice if you can add something similar @ the new ensl website
any better ideas feel free to add here.

I think this is a good idea, and could definitely end up being used alot if made properly.

It should be fairly easy to use, and at the same time take time, server and skill level into account imo. Could be a quick formula you have to fill out and then it will automaticly find opponents for you. Also, I think the new site should have some livechat(not just PM's like this site), which could be used in this system as well.

Here is my suggestion for a system:

When you want to search for a match you fill out this criteria:
- Team skill level (0-100)
- Time(could have a checkbox for "now" and secondarily a dropdown for date and time to schedule matches at a later time)
- Server name, IP and password and location of it (if you have one, doesnt need to be filled out if you don't. Also, could tie clan servers to clans so this doesn't have to be filled every time you search)
- Lineup(to decide best server location), should be very easy to fill out via a dropdown menu or something.
- Allow casting or not (checkbox)

Then the system would find a match for you with the closest skill level and decide on a server automaticly taking all 12 players locations into account. And then open a livechat with the opponents.

Current matches could be shown somewhere and registred shoutcasters could have access to IP and Password if both teams check the box to allow casting.

Only problem I see with this system is that it is not very friendly to mix teams and such, as they would have to sign up their players and register a team.

More ideas/suggestions?

Waste of time. Just use IRC, and promote using IRC so more people use it (still waiting for that news post you promised two months ago, swalk).

ENSL had a built-in pcw system but wasn't used at all.

A web-based IRC client would probably be a good solution.

Another I'm hoping we can implement is to merge the pcw search functionality inside the gather system.

Completely forgot about that, lol. I will make a large newspost when the season is over, and this could be a part of it.

Broooo. Make a newspost just for the IRC stuff. No point even posting about it if it's just going to get buried under a lot of other information. No reason not to! <3

ns2hub has that. I was using it most of the time. I'd consider to post link to that built in web irc client, it has ensl as atuojoin channel there. and ensl is in top bar as well.

I would rather not "spam" newsposts as well, that's why I try to bring as much information into one newspost as possible. I will make sure that it will be nicely set up so it doesn't go unnoticed =) That newspost should be coming on febuary 1st.

I prefer one topic in a newspost. I'm not a retard like the rest of you but I am a crackhead like the rest of you. Welcome to our generation. One thing at a time. At most.

well i want to come back to topic my experiance searching pcws/teams is when your not div1-3 your normaly only find seldom an enemy @irc and so your not useing irc and steam instead

what is to be honest pretty time intesive i was serval days with 6-8 people @clan group chat and meanhile i was asking 10 teams @steam and the last that answerd after 1 hour said ok lets play..

i mean i was busy 1 hour to find any match there has to be an way to make it easier less working with typing and less time using.

i tryed serval times too todo pcws with date/time lets play in 1 week 20:30CET
but it works like only 40% what is terrible.

thats why i want people to use irc or an system to make matches for teams @website
somehow nowdays irc is not that popular anymore.
its like only div1-3 ask for pcws with describtion like high-mid... at least give us an rateing of strentgth or idk..

I think this would be really good, if done right. Something like a box of pcws, AJAX-based.

its now nearly 1 year and there is not much imporvment in terms of match finding since then
sadly i have no coding experiance with web stuff

so i took a grapic program and created a concept how it could look like (works without keyboard):

Viewpoint is here leader/Deputee of team Vexta

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/47037191/Mega/PCW_Planner/pcwfindpage_firsttry1.png

- on top there 2 tabs this is the find scrim/pcw tab

- he has here 2 offers to play on 13.1.14 so he can chose with which team he wants to play
(these (x) and () means its an single choice box to click means he can only chose 1 team)

- also the game that hes suppose to play on 14.1.14 is highlighted in yellow (and maybe even visible for other teams)

- last thing you and the other team should allways be able to leave some notes not sure how to do that yet maybe something similar like matchcomments @league games

- if he would like to get an addinal pcw just select one in the list for example gorgebusters @15.1.14 and add a note if wanted (they gonna see the offer to play like vexta is doing with the blue stuff)
(these [] are multiple choice boxes he could even agree to 5 pcws with 1 click on apply)

ok now to the thing how you insert pcws/scrims:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/47037191/Mega/PCW_Planner/pcwinsertpage_firsttry1.png

-on top are 2 tabs this is the insert pcws/scrims search tab

-the green thing is the selected time date ect

- you can select a skillrateing but thats optional (not needed)
(other teams with higher or lower skill can still sign up for this pcw and the team that insert
it has to decide which team they gonna take so maybe cut this box out)

-the the instant search option you gonna get your match inserted and other teams can sign up for it
then you other team sign up like it normaly would @find scrim/pcw page and you agree to 1 team there
(have not thinking this to the end its still complicated)

- now the main use of this thing the plan pcw/scrim tab you select all days you normaly play and then the default time and then you click add it shows up in a small list below and suggest you directly if there are other teams searching at similar times (+ - 1 hour) and you can sign up on there matches instead of adding your own request to the find list.
(the yellow number is the date of today it should show the next 30 days in numbers to select)

(maybe this has to be modifidy that your request shows up in the list in case the other team dosnt agree to your team)

the skillrating comes from: http://hive.naturalselection2.com/teams

but in case it might even be possible to calculate it with:
http://sabot.herokuapp.com/api/get/playerData/2087951 + saved steamid from usernames @ensl.org that are in the serval team cause some teams might not be on the list there. (all skiillratings / number of players =averge skill)

anyway let me know what you think of this concept

It's clearly a good idea, it would be very interesting & convenient.
But we need someone to do it.

ROFL a graphics program? What was it called? Paint?

Why don't you just do this yourself? You can probably do something incredibly basic using google docs. You're just too fucking lazy.

There's no every teams on the Hive, I don't think it's the best solution for that.

The website is made using ruby on rails so knowing at least php is required. I would assume javascript and ajax knowledge would be beneficial as well.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_on_rails

Just fyi, there was a project with something like this maybe 6-9 months ago. The website part was never finished since one at the time maintaining the website didn't have the time. Also I was not too eager to learn RoR since there was supposed to be new website coming soon with all sort of shiny new features.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dqc0_M_LklVZiGz-mrr1i5wZtOmtIrsSd6fvhNCQJtY/edit#heading=h.5vf54hkbkd3l

I guess the irc side has now died off.

ok i guess i didnt explained this clearly enough and i had to rethink it too

hivestats is optional you can insert it to try prevent a stomp

but even if you dont insert it you still chose to which team you confirm
(and the skillrateing beside the teamname is a hint how good they might be).

then about the calculation of hivestats its as easy as possible and i gonna demonstrate it on an example lets say
the calculation is:

STEAM_0:n:x -> 2x+n = steamidns2format
http://sabot.herokuapp.com/api/get/playerData/steamidns2format (results in "skill":"xxx.xx",)

every "skill":"xxx.xx", divider+1
every "skill":"0", divider+0
add every skill":"xxx.xx", to each other = "skillrateingadded"
"skillrateingadded" / "divider" = Hiveskillranking for the currect members

and the example continues this time on some members of the team el'pheer http://www.ensl.org/teams/546 :

contagious: 1279941*2+0=2559882 gives hiveskill: 374.91 divider +1
Trigu: 1267674*2+1=2535349 gives hiveskill: 544.12 divider + 1
morttu 0:0:11799*2+0=23598 gives hiveskill: 0 divider +0
JJava 0:0:1289407*2+0=2578814 gives hiveskill: 315.24 divider +1
Saria 0:1:30062990*2+1=60125981 gives hiveskill: 159.64 divider +1
scoobyz 0:1:134769*2+1=269539 gives hiveskill: 371.03 divider +1

hiveskillranking for these 5 (cause you cant count mortuu with 0): 1764,94 / 5 = 352,988 hiveskill for these 5 or 6 people (the script would calculate for the whole memberlist ofc but im to lazy atm)
