17:30 CET EVERY SUNDAY from 17:30CET / 11:30am EST till open end. Regular Sunday Funday Gather! https://gathers.ensl.org
For all of you that participated in the first NSL Open Tournament, we hope you had fun! And another shoutout to the winners: MoreMoralThanPhoen! With this said, we would like to announce that the badges for the NSL Open Tournament have been developed, and should be live in the game within the next few days. These badges are not your typical badges--they are large, animated icons which replace the skill badges (thanks UWE)! Below you can see the badges for first, second and third place, respectively. As noted before, these badges are given away in a belt style, which means that the winners of the next NSL Open Tournament will receive these badges, and the winners from the previous will lose them (if they did not win again).
Server choice is no longer the decision of the team who wins the coinflip; the referee or an admin will choose the server if teams cannot agree on one
Teams cannot add players the day of the event--the last day to register is the day before (Friday 12 July in this case)
No talking during active matches (except for GG, glhf, ready, pause and during pauses to explain reasons for pause / updates). We have decided on this change due to complaints from some members of the community, as well as promoting a more serious atmosphere for official matches
On the semifinals/finals day, Captains/Delegates of a team must meet 30 minutes prior to match time for pre-game decisions such as bans
If one team does not show at this time, the team that did gains all advantages
Teams are allowed one mercenary to play in a given round
The team who is aliens first on a map now pick the initial spawn locations, and these locations will remain the same for the duration of the map
NSL Open Tournament #2
We have now opened the signups for the second NSL Open, which will take place July 13-14. Like the previous tournament, this will be held in a double elimination format, ending in a Grand Finals. The Early Stage will end on Saturday, July 13th and the finals will be played on Sunday, July 14th. This tournament will start earlier to both accommodate other timezones, and ensure games do not run too late-- games will start on Saturday at 09:00 PDT / 12:00 EDT / 16:00 GMT / 18:00 CEST and on Sunday at 07:00 PDT / 10:00 EDT / 14:00 GMT / 16:00 CEST. As in our previous tournaments, we will use Challonge to track the brackets, which can be found here. Below we will list all relevant information for this tournament.
Based on feedback we have received, we will be updating some of the rules from the previous tournament. Notable changes include:
The full list of rules can be found here. There is one rule specifically that we need your feedback on: what advantage should the winner in the Grand Finals get? Our thought was to give them 4 map bans, and the lower seeded team 2. Please let us know if you have any other thoughts in the comments of this news post!

From this tournament onwards, we will be offering prizes for the winning team of NSL Opens (in addition to the in-game belt style badge, thanks to UWE)! Prizes for this tournament will be custom team shirts, with designs made by rantology. The winning team will submit their ideas to rantology, who will design and order the shirts for the team members who played in the finals. Future tournament prizes may differ, and this is just the start of something great! Keep tuned for more updates on this topic as we go forward.
Forming/joining teams, finding practice partners
With all the above said, we need teams to make these tournaments a success. To assist in this effort, we have created a #recruitment channel in our Discord where players can send messages about looking for a team, or looking for players if you are managing a team yourself, all with the help of AmarBot! Instructions for using this bot can be found here. Alternatively, players and team leaders can make posts in our recruitment form! On top of all of this, playing some Gathers is a great way to meet other players if you’re looking for team members.
Lastly, if you want to do well in any tournament, it would behoove a team to practice! For this reason we also have a #pcw-search channel in our discord, where players can post messages about looking for practice games (PCWs). Additionally, if you are a leader of a team, please tell an admin and we will mark you with the Team-Leader role in Discord to aid in others’ searching efforts.
For now, we plan to run an NSL Open Tournament every other weekend, so make sure to keep these weekends in your schedule! Depending on popular demand we may also host special tournaments, such as a Custom Map Cup, a Draft Tournament or even a Nostalgia Mod / Progmod Tournament! Feedback on these topics is welcome—if you have any comments, please let us know in the forums, on this news post or on our Discord.
