Because it was two teams slapped together at short notice, with whoever was around and no practice beforehand. Not to mention the lacking organization, lack of pregame hype and four map format on servers that were bad for both teams. It was a fun game, let's leave it at that.

Since when did Reflect represent the american ns scene? We are the current top american team, yes, however, the american clan scene is dead. You think the euro scene is as dead as the american scene, but it isn't. The good american players have moved on, while there's still a good chunk of good euro players. There's absolutely no scrimming at all in the american scene, can you say the same for the euro scene? Terror and Exigent would walk all over nL even with the bad pings, however, they were also arguably the 2 best american teams and I have no clue where nL would rank with past euro teams.

The only reason I enjoy playing in this league is because there are teams like nL (probably saunamen) that will walk all over us. I have no idea why my team sees the need to come post here and complain about whatever. I can only assume it's because of the shit the euros talk about american teams. I too blame pings every so often or even call bs, but mostly during the match while I'm in a more competetive state.

Also, I laugh at the fact that most euros laugh at us for being bad, yet we're still placed in premier division and are still tying euro teams even with our handicap. What's even more amusing to me is it's players from lower divisions or, having the same handicap as we do, would get destroyed on american servers. And after all the shit they talk, they still refuse to sign up for cal/ansl and play on our grounds? If you really cared enough, I'm sure the ANSL admins wouldn't mind figuring out a way to get some american teams to schedule for euro times (like reflect would).

It was poorly organized and sorta last minute. Although it really wasn't serious, it seemed a hell of a lot more serious to the euros than it did to the americans.

The euros had a channel dedicated to their EU team.
They had actually picked out their best 7 players to play in the match, whereas NA was just reflect + whoever else wanted to play (meb, menes, elf).
They delayed the match 1.5hrs to wait for their star comm, whereas the americans had slipknot and me (first time commanding and winning ftw) commanding 2 maps.
They almost refused to play us on our servers because 2 of their 7 "star" players had to leave immediately after the 4 rounds on their server and getting 2 other players was apparently too difficult. (They did finally play though, thanks)

Had we not played on american servers and the outcome been 3-1 for the euros, do you really think your opinion of it "not being serious" would be the same? The euro egos are too big that they would have counted it as a serious NAvsEU match had they won.

I took this match seriously as if we were about to win the $1 million dollar CS tournament. I was very disappointed and almost killed myself by jumping off the 4 steps it takes to get up to the door of my house.

I think the NA team had 11 players in total that played. The most rounds someone played was 5 I believe and that was Makaveli. All the others got at least 2 rounds in.

This was far from the best European team that could play, and you saying it is just proves how little you know about European teams and players -- I'm not saying I know much about American teams and players, but at least I don't pretend I do either. The reason why we originally weren't sure if we were going to play two more maps, was because it was 23:00ish on Saturday and a lot of us (including me) actually wanted to go do other things (three of us actually did leave). After some spamming around, we managed to get hold of Pizza, who was one of the few half-decent players online at the time. For a while we even considered getting klatu to play, who hasn't even played NS in god knows how long.

I was around when Knife played in CAL, however, I really don't remember much of it. I really don't care what other people said about Knife. The fact that I find it amusing that people are so egotistical of their continent's ns clan base is apparently me being sensitive? Where did I ever say I was hurt with what anyone has said.

My opinion stands that Terror and Exigent were better teams than nL is. I don't care what kind of matches they had against Knife/euros before or even understand your rebuttal. The fact is that Reflect has had more of a challenge playing them on even grounds than it has playing nL on their servers (or ours against team EU). If I think that old Terror would beat nL's current roster, then that's my opinion, just as your "American's suck at ns" is your opinion.

My comment about the euros taking the match more seriously had they won came from exactly that discussion we had. It was not directed to you, but the others in the teamEU channel that were trying to figure out whether this was the 3rd teamNA vs teamEU match. This was mostly an assumption from my experience with the euro scene.

Whether or not it was your best euro team or not (I never seriously meant there weren't better euros that should have been playing) but from how you delayed the match an hour and a half to wait for 1 player to not wanting to play more rounds because players had left, lead me to believe this was the best team you could have put together. In teamNA's case, I already said this was a Reflect + whoever asked me to play. I never went asking players to play, otherwise, the majority of teamNA would not have been playing and would have been replaced by better players (myself included).

The reason we had problems with 3/7 players leaving, was because on Saturday at 23:00ish, there's really not many European players on. We could've gotten some random division 2 or 3 player, but that just wouldn't have been any fun. For me this was a high skill mix team playing against another and bringing mediocre players into our mix would just make me not want to play.

I believe jiriki, who "organized" the european team by spamming everyone decent enough to play on IRC the day before, thought this was a real EU vs. NA match, or wanted it to be. In reality though, it just doesn't fit the criteria.

A real EU vs. NA match would be/have:

1. Planned weeks beforehand, giving both teams time for tryouts and practice before the match.

2. Tryouts for both teams, with the very best players from each continent fighting against each other to be on the team before getting ready for the actual match (The last real EU vs. NA match was an example of this somewhat failing for NA though).

3. Lots of hype, starting weeks before the match, to bring spectators to the servers. Last time there were 300+ specs, this time there was about 100.

4. A pre-set match format (two maps being the norm), with one map on each team's server. The EU server being located in the UK and the NA server being located on the East Coast, for the best possible pings for both teams.

5. A serious mindset, instead of the rubbish "lol obs bugged replay plz" you pulled on us. We agreed to the replay because playing NS is fun and since this wasn't that serious anyway, we might as well.

As for that round, deimos has some dumb strategies that he likes to use and I would've slapped some sense into him had I not been recording a demo of my models warping and frapsing it into the above posted avi. Actually I didn't even know we were going rt hive until i replayed that avi with the sound on and heard Deimos's deadpanned voice say "Slipknot rt, hive" Had I payed attention to that I wouldve threated to castrate Deimos if we went rt hive.

As for the strat, we were supposed to go straight hive with waste hive. We never do good on tanith anymore and lost has always been a terrible map imo.

Well it happened, it was brutual. You died to a random mine as fade and slipknot got knifed as fade, for aliens you barely even got a foot in the door, you were in essence schooled. 4mins is apparently really late. The rt hive comes with 4 other nodes being dropped, so if all nodes are kept up, which we do a good job at normally, we have an early fade with a hive being dropped a minute later?

It worked vs LTDM and has worked many times in the past. Of course against better shooters, our skulks aren't always good enough to keep our nodes up, but then again, what's the difference if we drop 1-2 nodes compared to 4 if our skulks can't stop the pressure team.

Believe it or not, there are strats other than your cookie-cutter "beat the other team with skill" that can win a game. We aren't as good a team as nL, especially individual skill wise. When most of your team comes into the game expecting to lose, it doesn't go so well. Notice how we didn't even bother to try to get them to restart our marine round where Slipknot was afk the entire round.

As for the match against <3, I thought that was against Knife. Either way, I really don't care. That nsi tournament was when reflect was still an omega team in CAL, gj on beating us. Btw, we never won CAL, we've always been a top 2nd-3rd team in CAL after that omega season. We don't really care if we're not the best, we aren't claiming to be. We've been more successful than most american and euro teams, that's all I care about.

NL IS BETTER THAN REFLECT. Is that what you're trying to hear? Because myself and most of my team aren't denying that fact. A lot of us have been playing for a while, however, can you really improve your hand-eye coordination even after playing a game for years? Not really. That's why I don't play cs. Milo has improved drastically from being the worst marine on reflect to one of our better ones (mostly due to upgrading his computer). I really don't see the point in making fun of anyone's skill in this game.

4th post in a row, but I felt I should post again before someone else comments on how dumb reflect's strats are.

Reflect, until recently, has been a team that would beat teams with strat. We used a lot of successful awkward strats to overcome better skilled teams. Basically, the element of surprise gave us an advantage over our opponents. This is what made Reflect back in the day and why playing for Reflect was so fun.

Few points you may not know,

Reflect was the first (american at least) team to switch to MC as a first chamber before the free chamber upgrades were implemented. After which, all american teams switched to MC first.

Reflect was the first team to take a round in a match off Terror using our JP Rush to kill alien nodes and play against 2 hive alien strat.

I thought I had more, but I just had a brain fart and can't think right now.

Hopefully you can see where I'm getting at. Back in the day when me and duo (mostly duo) were Reflect's only good shooters, it was our strats that pulled out the wins. Now that me and duo both are lacking on marines, that we have other good marines and that there are no teams to scrim to practice our strats, we hardly doing anything out of the ordinary.

Yea, some of our strats were plain dumb and just didn't work, we normally found that out during scrims. It's now either we do a normal strat or risk an out of the ordinary strat with no scrimming. So, don't criticize my strats when you have no idea how our team performs using your strat.
